Video of a group of youths forcing a kitten to smoke a cigarette has sparked outrage online.
Vile footage shows a man grabbing the kitten's legs and holding it upside down as he attempted to place its head into a pint glass.
In another clip, the feline was forced to stand on its two hind legs as a man put a lit cigarette into its mouth while others cheered.
The cat struggles to break free as the video ends.
Spanish political party Animalist Party Against Mistreatment of Animals (PACMA) shared the clip on Sunday and alerted local authorities.
It is believed that the incident took place in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia.
The kitten has since been rescued by the Civil Guard and was taken to a veterinary clinic for checkup.
The perpetrators may face a possible crime of animal abuse.
Laura Duarte, a spokeswoman for PACMA said: "These kind of stunts always happen and are shared on social networks with impunity.
“It is time to change the legislation so that stronger punishments are handed out and people mistreating animals like this can be sufficiently sanctioned."
Similar animal cruelty cases happened as PACMA said a woman filmed the sickening moment when she put a cat into a washing machine.
In the incident which happened last year, she threatened to continue hurting more animals.
She said: "Next victim. You do not want me to kill more cats so I will kill dogs."
