Cruel bullies tell schoolgirl "you look stupid" after she cuts hair off for charity

Cruel bullies told a schoolgirl she "looked stupid" after she cut off her hair to support children with cancer.

Selfless Lilly Appleby, from Ellesmere Port, decided to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust - a charity which makes wigs for child cancer sufferers.

The 12-year-old, who lost her grandad to cancer, has donated her hair before and decided this time to make a GoFundMe page to raise money to help others.

However the youngster was left devastated after cruel school bullies mocked her new short do.

Speaking to CheshireLive, Lilly's mum, Vicky Minshull, said: "We've had a couple of problems with cancer, we lost my dad four years ago.

"And it is something that really gets to her.

"It made her feel like she wanted to help.

"But the kids were horrid, calling her all sorts, telling her her hair looked stupid. No one cared why she did it."

Vicky, of Westminster Road, said her daughter has had a problem with bullies in the past and said these latest taunts have "knocked her confidence".

However, despite the backlash in school, Lily has smashed her fundraising target and her mum believes she won't be put off donating in future.

She added: "I think she would do it again, she gets the most amazing long thick hair.

"I think she'd be happy despite what has happened at school.

"She's a tough cookie - but it does get to her sometimes."
