Crude images and graffiti spray-painted onto 150-year-old Scottish cathedral

A 150-YEAR-OLD Scottish cathedral has been spray painted with graphic images and graffiti tags.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into the incident at Inverness Cathedral, which has led to a number of walls at the historic building being vandalised.

The letters HMC – understood to stand for “Hilton Mental Crew” – were also spray painted onto a cathedral wall and the tarmac floor nearby.

“We were here” was also tagged on one of the exterior walls, as well as several crude images.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 8.35am on Wednesday April 30 we received a report of vandalism to a building in the Ardross Street area of Inverness.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”
