Crucifix given on wedding day stolen from woman in 80s in Lidl

A woman in her 80s had a crucifix, which was given to her on her wedding day, stolen in Lidl.

The victim's purse was snatched at around midday on Tuesday (October 1) in the store in Great Western Road, Clevedon.

It contained her pension and a silver four inch silver crucifix.

Police say the crucifix has great sentimental value to the victim, who was given it 60 years ago on her wedding day by her grandfather.

The crucifix and cash were in a black leather-effect zip-up purse, which is seven inches long.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary is appealing for anyone with information, including second-hand shops and jewellers, to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for the return of a silver crucifix, which has great sentimental value.

"We want people to remain vigilant for the purse and crucifix.
"We would also urge second-hand shops and jewellers to contact us if they are offered a silver crucifix.

"Anyone able to help is asked to contact us, quoting reference 5219227746."
