Crucial road set to close for filming for hit USA drama

A stretch of the Coastal Road in Southport will be closed as filming for a hit USA drama takes place.

Diversions will be in place between the Shore Road roundabout in Ainsdale and Weld Road roundabout in Birkdale from 10am-midnight on Monday, April 8.

The temporary closure is to for further filming of the second Sky Atlantic series of Das Boot which is currently taking place across the Liverpool City Region.

Sefton Council works closely with the Liverpool Film Office to help promote 'film friendly Sefton' and all the opportunities the borough has for film and production companies.

ITV Good Morning Britain viewers convinced Gemma Collins' announcement is an April Fool

A spokesman for Sefton Council said: "We work really hard to help facilitate filming requests right across the borough which often portray the natural beauty of the area, or highlight local attractions and destinations.

"Often film crews may base themselves in the borough and employ local actors or support staff, which contributes to the local economy.

"We hope this temporary closure for just one day will cause minimum disruption on the Coastal Road and look forward to seeing Sefton and the wider Liverpool City Region positively portrayed in the next series of Das Boot."

Das Boot is an eight part series, that follows on from the 1980's film of the same name.

The first series was critically acclaimed and producers are hoping the second series will follow suit.
