Crucial EFL vote, Sky Sports TV picks & more Nottingham Forest fans need to know

Nottingham Forest are preparing for another pivotal week in their hopes of resuming the 2019-20 campaign.

The Championship gave the green light for the return of football later on this month but there are still plenty of little details to be decided as Sabri Lamouchi 's side aim to get their play-off push back on track.

English Football League (EFL) clubs are holding a vote this week which will finalise the framework about how seasons will be ended if the campaign has to be ended early.

The coronavirus pandemic has postponed matches for nearly three months and there is a contingency plan that needs to be put in place should another break have to be had.

Also, Sky Sports will reveal their picks after scrapping the original selections in their announcement about how they plan to cover the rest of the season last week.

And, crucially, the dates and times of the remaining games will be announced.

Here's everything on the agenda at the EFL's headquarters in Preston this week...

EFL vote

Clubs will cast their vote on five potential frameworks which will determine how the tables are settled if the season is curtailed.

The EFL favours the traditional format of promotion, relegation and a four-team play-off with the final standings decided by a points-per-game metric but that has been met with some objections.

The other proposals include scrapping relegation, a weighted points-per-game system and altering the play-off system.

Championship clubs are expected to fulfill their fixtures no matter what the vote, whilst League Two will curtail their season, equally. League One are undecided, with a split of teams wanting separate conclusions.

Fixtures announced

The Championship will reveal the first block of fixtures that each club will play, with nine matches left for all 24 clubs.

It's been assumed that the Championship will follow on the fixture list as it was set out before the three-month break, in conjunction with the Premier League, but that will be formally confirmed either way.

Forest 's season will resume on June 20, with the next round of fixtures being on the weekend of June 27.

From then on, clubs will play a game on a weekend and in midweek until they have fulfilled their fixture list, meaning the regular season will end in the midweek of July 21 or 22.

The play-off final will take place on Sunday, August 2 or Monday, August 3.

TV selections

The EFL and Sky Sports released big news on how supporters can watch the remainder of the season, with 30 live matches shown on Sky Sports in addition to the play-offs.

Sky Sports revealed in that statement that they would reveal their TV selections 'early next week' so supporters can expect to discover if their team is on from Monday.

All other remaining fixtures will be streamed live via various platforms including iFollow or in-house TV channels.

Friday's statement revealed season ticket holders would get to watch all of their club's remaining matches without paying extra, as long as they haven't already received a refund, although which option a club chooses will be down to them.

As for non-season ticket holders, they would be able to watch the action on a game-by-game basis for a fee of £10 per fixture.
