Crowning Comfort: Skechers 2025 Go Golf 36-Hole Challenge

Three Golf Monthly readers testing the 2025 GO GOLF range of shoes from Skechers.

Top of most people’s shopping list when investing in a new pair of golf shoes is comfort. Skechers is a brand that had quickly become renowned for out of the box comfort that lasts, and its 2025 GO GOLF range is proof of that. However, we still wanted to put that reputation to the test. In order to see for ourselves, we invited three Golf Monthly readers down to the London Club to play and walk two rounds on the 7005 yard International course, each testing a new pair of Skechers golf shoes as they go.

Paul Young (11.5 handicap), Tony Ormond (7.2 handicap) and Fiona Ormond (18.2 handicap) were each tasked with scoring as many Stableford points as they could across the 36 holes, all while testing two brand-new pairs of Skechers GO GOLF shoes each. While some were wearing Skechers golf shoes for the very first time, Paul has been a regular Skechers user for the last few years, so it was going to be interesting to hear the group's impressions of the 2025 GO GOLF range walking a tough course twice in a day.

After the opening 18 holes, it was clear that the immediate comfort out of the box is what impressed our players about the first pair of Skechers shoes they tested. It led to some great golf too, with Tony's 38 points leading the way ahead of Paul's 36 and Fiona's 24 points in round one. Paul, who wore the GO GOLF Elite 6, was wowed by the quality of the fit on his shoe. 'I slipped into these perfectly out of the box, and they fit so well for me. The spikeless outsole was perfect in the dry conditions today, and I've got no doubt they'll still be as good even if there's a bit of moisture underfoot.'

Tony, who wore the GO GOLF Blade GF Slip-Ins had a similar view. 'The best thing about these shoes was that they were immediately comfortable. The Slip-In technology is really clever too, it's so easy to put this shoe on and the support around the heel was probably the standout feature for me.'

Fiona started in the GO GOLF Jasmine 2 GF. 'I love the colour and the style of this shoe,' she commented. 'I found them very comfortable thanks to the cushioned sole, and I think the construction of the upper will also make these a great shoe in the winter, and not just on a nice day like today.'

For the second round, all three golfers tested the flagship Skechers shoe for 2025, the GO GOLF Prestige. Noted for its classic design with gorgeous detailing, this shoe benefits from Skechers' key comfort technologies like Slip-In, Arch Fit and the Heel Pillow.

The golf continued to shine on the International Course for our group with Tony bettering his first round to score 42 points, Fiona also bettering her first round to score 36 points, and Paul staying steady with 32 points.

'You can feel how soft the leather is and that this is a high-quality shoe, it's a lot lighter than these styles of shoes normally are, too,' Tony told us about his experience with the GO GOLF Prestige. Fiona was similarly impressed. 'I really like the style, it's much more traditional, which is what I prefer from a golf shoe. The outsole has great grip too, and I love how it's coloured like the middle part of the shoe.'

Paul, who wears orthotic inserts in all of his shoes, was impressed with how the GO GOLF Prestige accompanied these. 'The depth of the heel is great on this shoe. My inserts fit in these shoes perfectly, and my heel didn't feel as though it was raised too high in the shoe, which is really important for me. I love how this has a traditional design but with some modern touches, too'

In the end, it was Tony who scored the most points on the day, collecting 80 across the two rounds, but all three played some excellent golf. Indeed, both Tony and Fiona improved on their final round, showing just how well they got on wearing the 2025 GO GOLF range and that the comfort and support the shoes offered allowed them to play their very best golf right to the end of the day.
