Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visits a military hospital in Stockholm during coronavirus pandemic

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has paid a visit to a military hospital in Stockholm amid the coronavirus crisis.

Sweden has recently faced criticism from other nations for its approach to the pandemic - the country is not yet in lockdown despite 2800 cases and deaths up 60%.

The Swedish government is recommending people work from home where possible, practice social distancing and stay home if they feel unwell or are over 70.

The Swedish government announced that the restaurants and bars would only be able to provide table service to avoid overcrowding and gatherings of 500 people are also banned, which is a different approach to the British rule of no gatherings of more than two people.

There has been widespread outrage and calls for new reforms, including from the editor in chief Peter Wolodarski of Sweden’s biggest newspaper Dagens Nyheter who said, “We cannot allow the human desperation in Wuhan and Bergamo to be repeated in Sweden. That would be a gamble that violates society's most fundamental principle: that every person has an inherent value.”
