Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, ordered on Monday the renovation of 130 historical mosques throughout Saudi Arabia, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
The directives are part of the Program for Reconstruction of Historical Mosques, which is being supervised by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) in partnership with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance.
The Crown Prince's support, within the "Mohammed bin Salman Project for Development of Historical Mosques," included in its first phase the rehabilitation of 30 mosques in 10 regions across the Kingdom at a total cost of more than SR50 million.
The Program of Reconstruction of Historical Mosques is one of several programs adopted by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the President of SCTH and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Turath Heritage Foundation.
