Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hailed on Saturday the advances witnessed in Saudi Arabia according to its Vision 2030, underlining his government’s keenness in further cooperation with the Kingdom.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, had held talks with Abe on the sidelines of the G20 summit that was hosted by Osaka last week.
They discussed bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
Abe thanked the Crown Prince for his participation at the summit, adding that Japan was ready to cooperate with the Kingdom to ensure the success of next year’s meeting that will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
“We will work together to prepare for the 2020 G20,” said Crown Prince Mohammed, while hailing Japan’s organization of this year’s proceedings.
On Sunday, Crown Prince Mohammed paid a visit to the Japanese city of Hiroshima and its Peace Memorial Museum.
He toured the museum where he viewed a visual presentation about the city before and after it was bombed by an atomic bomb during World War II.
He also met at the museum with one of the survivors of the attack.
Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty out of its conviction that world peace and security cannot be achieved with the existence of nuclear weapons.
