The Saudi Embassy in the United States hosted in Washington on Thursday the first annual Saudi-US partnership dinner, which was attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

Prince Mohammed stressed before the gatherers “the breadth and history of relations, our common values and goals,” outlining his vision towards a shared future.

The Saudi embassy said that the annual event will help celebrate more than 80 years of solid partnership with the US.

This year it honored US vets, who participated in Operation Desert Storm, it said on its official Twitter account.

“The first annual Saudi-US partnership dinner solidifies our two countries’ historic relationship. Together, we have overcome countless challenges, and shared many victories,” it added.

“We celebrate our long standing bond with the United States, as we acknowledge the future of our two nations in light of Prince Mohammed’s Vision 2030, paving the way forward towards continued prosperity.”

Saudi Ambassador to the US Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz paid tribute to the historic leaders that shaped ties between the Kingdom and the US.

“The special relationship that exists between the United States and Saudi Arabia would not have flourished but for the courage and wisdom of great leaders,” he told the audience.

“Just as America is and always will be the land of the free and the home of the brave - the Kingdom has been the city upon a hill for the region; A leader in the Muslim and Arab world,” he stressed.

“Our partnership is a force of good, a force for peace, for stability, for international order, and economic prosperity.”

“Just as America’s public and private sectors have played a pivotal role in the Kingdom’s modernization after the discovery of oil almost eight decades ago, the US will have a major role in achieving our vision,” stressed Prince Khalid.
