Liquor licences have been approved for Crown Resorts at Barangaroo in Sydney as the city reopens following 106 days in lockdown.
The NSW Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority on Monday approved three interim liquor licences that were due to expire on October 31.
The authority's chair Philip Crawford said the permits, which expire in June next year, allow alcohol to be sold within the resort at a number of non-gaming bar areas and two ground floor restaurants within the facility.
Whether or not the venue is found suitable to hold a gaming licence, following an inquiry's damning findings about money laundering and organised crime at Crown casinos, is still up in the air.
Mr Crawford said the authority's position on Crown Sydney's gaming operations had "not changed" as it would still watch how the operator responded to issues arising from the Bergin inquiry into its operations.
"These issues are complex, and Crown is required to undertake significant change to satisfy the authority that it is on a pathway to become suitable to hold a gaming licence," he said.
"It will take further time for Crown to fully implement that change and for the authority to give it proper consideration before making its determination."
