Crowds sing and dance in streets after leaving bars at 10pm despite restrictions

Worrying footage shows a large group of people appearing to flout social distancing rules while singing and dancing together amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Dublin in Ireland is currently under Tier 3 restrictions, meaning no large crowds can gather at once.

The festivities took place in Dublin city centre and happened as the bars, pubs and restaurants closed their doors at 10pm.

The crowds of people stopped off to enjoy the music a busker was playing with some of the crowd joining in with singing and dancing, reports the Irish Mirror.

People can also been seen enjoying themselves further back from the main crowd.

Only a handful of people appear to be wearing masks.

It seems all social distancing had been forgotten about.

The local police were in attendance to help to try and disperse the crowd of revellers.

It's said that everyone involved was compliant and there wasn't reason for the police to use force.

As Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales are all entering new levels of restrictions due to the Covid-19 crisis.

This comes as a concern in the battle against the spread of the virus.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí received reports of a gathering of people on Grafton Street at approximately 10pm last night, Friday 16 October, 2020.

"Gardaí attended the scene and reminded those present of the current health guidelines and dispersed the group. All were compliant."
