Crowds march through Leeds for second ever Leeds Trans Pride event

Crowds gathered in their numbers for the second ever Leeds Trans Pride March on Sunday afternoon (31/03).

The march coincided with International Transgender Day of Visibility, so similar events were scheduled to take place across the globe

The crowds gathered at Leeds Art Gallery in the city centre, before marching up the Headrow, and then down Boar Lane and Kirkgate towards the finishing point at Wharf Chambers.

Other events have been planned for Trans Pride - bands were due to play at Wharf Chambers at 4pm, and a Trans Pride performance is also scheduled at Yorkshire Dance.

International Transgender Day of Visibility was founded in 2009 by American Rachel Crandall to raise awareness for the trans community, with the first Leeds specific march taking place last year.

Leeds Pride is a broader event focusing on LGBT awareness generally, and that will take place on Sunday, August 4 this year.

It is now the largest free pride event in the country.
