Crowd of Rangers fans shown pushing through fire exit into Kilmarnock ground in new shock footage

This is the moment Rangers fan burst through an emergency gate at Rugby Park after hundreds were stuck outside after kick-off.

Supporters inside the ground can be seen opening a fire exit to allow their fellow Gers into the Chadwick Stand.

In the video, which has been shared online, fans can be seen running into the concourse as stewards were left outnumbered.

Hundreds of Rangers fans were unable to get into Kilmarnock's ground which caused a crush after the turnstiles failed.

Fans streaming through the gates did not have their tickets checked as they cheered getting into the stadium.

Police Scotland said their officers did not open the gate and told the Daily Record that no arrests have been made regarding the incident.

The incident came before supporters in the away end trashed the roof of the disabled section when celebrating their side's winner.

One person was injured in the incident, but disabled fans were forced to evacuated the shelter and watch the rest of the game pitchside.

Greg Marshall, the Rangers Supporters Liaison Officer, said: "The club are aware of incidents prior to the match where a ticketing access failure led to large number of supporters remaining outside at kick off.

"We have requested Kilmarnock investigate this issue."

Meanwhile the SPFL have branded the scenes as "simply unacceptable".

A spokesman for the SPFL told Radio Clyde: “The scenes at the end of the game at Rugby Park were simply unacceptable

“The passion and energy of Scottish fans is a huge asset to the game, but nobody wants to see them invading the pitch – their place is in the stands.

“We will be working with Police Scotland and both clubs to investigate the incidents at the game, including turnstile and ticketing arrangements and will be studying CCTV footage to see what additional actions are required.”

Kilmarnock Football Club are yet to comment on the issue.
