Crowbar thug stormed Scots shop in terrifying till raid

Police are hunting a crowbar thug who raided a shop and terrified staff in East Dunbartonshire.

The crook stormed the store on Monreith Avenue, in Bearden, at around 6.15pm on Tuesday, October 20.

Wielding a crowbar, the man launched a bag at till staff and demanded that they fill it with money.

He made off with a three-figure sum of cash.

The man is described as being white, around six foot tall and of a heavy build.

He spoke with a Glaswegian accent.

The suspect was wearing a blue woollen hat which covered his face with eye holes cut out, a dark coat, dark jeans and blue latex gloves.

Nobody was injured during what police slammed as a 'frightening experience'.

Officers from Police Scotland are appealing for information and dash-cam footage in a bid to hunt down the suspect.

Police Constable Jacqueline Carmichael said: “Although nobody was injured, this was a frightening experience for the staff involved.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible, including reviewing CCTV from the area.

“Anyone who believes they may have information which could help identify the man or who was in the area at the time of the robbery is urged to contact police as soon as they can.

"I would also urge anyone who may have been driving in the area to check for any relevant dash-cam footage they may have.”

Those with information can call 101, quoting incident number 2618 of October 20 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
