Crouch out, defender doubtful - Sean Dyche delivers Burnley team news ahead of Chelsea trip

Sean Dyche has delivered the latest Burnley injury news ahead of tonight's clash against Chelsea.

The Clarets boss is set to be without long-term absentee Steven Defour following calf surgery, while former Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon is also set to miss the game at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking of the Belgian midfielder, Dyche revealed he does not expect to have the 31-year-old available until next season.

"He’s not going to be right for this season, but he’s making very good progress," he told Burnley's official website. "He’s in a good place with it all. He’s had a lot to take on this season and I think, overall, he has handled it well.

"It’s not easy. He had a fantastic season last season until he got injured and then it’s been a work in progress this season to try and get everything back in order.

"But he’s in good spirits."

Another ex-Spurs star in Peter Crouch will also be unavailable despite returning to training following appendix surgery.

"Crouchy is back on the move but not quite there yet," Dyche confirmed . "He is literally taking his first strides, loosely, on the training ground, but not with us, more with the sports science team.

"We’ll see how he goes. He feels in a good place at the minute.”

Phil Bardsley who has missed the last two games with a gashed leg will be assessed by Dyche as the Clarets look to win at the Bridge in successive seasons and dent the Blues' top four hopes in the process.
