If you’ve been playing The City in NBA 2K26, it’s likely that you’ve noticed that playing with friends on other platforms is currently broken. To sum the entire situation up in as few words as I can, a lot of players have complained that they have been unable to accept invites from players on a different console, even though crossplay is meant to be a feature in 2K26.
According to 2K itself, the company is aware of the issue and is currently working on a way to fix the issue. However, as of the writing of this article, the issue remains persistent and has yet to be resolved. This has led to many 2K players seeking assistance in finding a workaround until all functions are properly working.
This is what we’ve found.
How To Fix Crossplay In NBA 2K26
With crossplay not properly working in NBA 2K26, many players looking to play with their friends have had to find workarounds to get on the same squad. Luckily, there is one that has seemed to produce results.
The most effective workaround that I found pertains to using the Squad Finder when entering the Park area. Typically, this is used by players to find random teammates seeking out a similar experience. However, the tools provided with the Squad Finder can be used to find specific people — in this case, friends who you otherwise can’t invite to your session.
The Squad Finder kiosk is quite easy to find. When entering the gate at Skyline Park, for example, the kiosk will be directly to the left of the gate. Once you get in front of it and open it, you’ll find the following adjustable parameters:
- Preferred Game Mode
- Squad Size
- Playstyle
- Microphone Status
- Overall Range
- Performance Range
The trick to finding your friends is to fill these parameters out with super-specific settings, then relay them to your friend, who will look for the same type of game. Upon filling out the parameters, you and your friend(s) should be loaded into the same Theater lobby. From there, you can add them to your squad, then walk out into The City and play as normal.

It’s not the most convenient workaround in the world as it involves a bit more busywork than should be required, but until 2K finds a fix to the issue, this seems to be the only workaround that is universally said to be working at the moment.
