Crossmichael's New Year's Day Dee Dip to return in 2022

The Dee Dip will make an official return on Saturday.

The annual New Year’s Day tradition in Crossmichael has been running for more than 30 years, but the coronavirus pandemic saw it called off at the start of 2021.

However, that didn’t stop more than 30 people braving the icy waters of Loch Ken.

And organiser Jim McLelland has confirmed it will take place once again on Saturday morning, with many of those taking party doing so to raise money for charity.

Jim said: “I’ll be going into the water at 11am as normal and anyone who would like to join me is most welcome.

“We just ask that people stay safe and socially distance.

“I was in the water on Tuesday morning and it was still, so it is looking good.”
