Crossmichael's Nativity fundraising tours proved very popular over the Easter weekend

Tea and tours proved popular in Crossmichael over the Easter weekend.

The local community organised tea and cake in the parish church and tours of the churchyard – the burial place of the sea captain who inspired Captain Hook in Peter Pan.

Tourists and locals took the opportunity to go along and find out more about local history, raising £450 in the process.

The money is going towards the village’s living nativity project which will involve live animals as well as actors in the run up to Christmas.

A spokesperson said: “Thanks go to the church for hosting the event, everyone who took part and the ladies from Crossmichael and Parton who did all the home baking.”
