Crossmichael hosting Easter community fundraiser for living nativity project

A fundraiser is being held in Crossmichael over the Easter weekend to raise funds for a community living nativity.

Plans are already being made for a special nativity in the festive season involving a donkey, actors, singers, choirs, technicians, sheep, alpacas and a real, live baby Jesus.

To raise funds, the community are once again holding their successful teas and graveyard tours at Crossmichael Church from Friday to Monday.

People will be able to go into the church and enjoy a cup of tea and cake before embarking on a tour of the kirkyard, where they can come face to face with the sea captain who inspired Captain Hook in Peter Pan or take a look into the underground tomb below which the original church lies and learn more about the symbols and signs on the tombstones.

The tea room will be open from 10am until 4pm each day with tours at 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. A war graves tour is also available.

Groups should call in advance to book their slot on 07818 364204.
