Crossbow victim's ex-husband to stand trial in April

Victim: Sana Muhammad

The ex-husband of a pregnant woman who was shot dead with a crossbow has denied her murder and will stand in April.

Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 51, is accused of killing mother-of-five Sana Muhammad at her home in Ilford, east London, in November.

The 35-year-old was shot in the stomach, with the bolt narrowly missing her unborn son Ibrahim who survived the attack and was delivered safely by emergency Caesarian section.

Unmathallegadoo appeared at the Old Bailey this morning via videolink from HMP Pentonville to plead not guilty to murder and attempted child destruction.

Unmathallegadoo, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody until the start of his ten-day trial on April 8.
