'Crossbow' used to smash taxi window after incident in Upper Parliament Street

Two groups were involved in an 'incident' outside Alea Casino in Upper Parliament Street during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after one man was injured in what has been described by officers as "a disturbance".

The extent of his injuries are not known.

Officers were called to Upper Parliament Street at around 1.50am on Sunday, November 24.

One of the groups involved left the scene in a taxi, which was then reported to have been boxed in by a white BMW close to The Stage pub, also on Upper Parliament Street.

A man is said to have got out of the BMW and broken the taxi’s window, possibly by the use of a crossbow which has been recovered by police. A spokesman for the force said there were no reports of any injuries as a result of this.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Buxton, who is investigating, said: “We are working hard to understand the circumstances surrounding these two incidents, and I would encourage anyone who has any information or may have mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward.

“Our officers were quickly on the scene to ensure the safety of the public and we are thoroughly investigating what has taken place.”

If you saw anything which could help our investigation, you should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 76 of 24 November 2019.
