Authorities in Toronto say three people are dead after an apparent crossbow attack in the Scarborough neighbourhood of the Canadian city.
Toronto police responded to a report of a stabbing shortly before 1pm local time on Thursday. The officers arrived on the scene to find one man still alive after having been struck by a crossbow bolt, Constable David Hopkinson told the Toronto Star.
Two more people were found dead before the first victim succumbed to his wounds. Police said a crossbow was recovered from the scene, close to the rear garage of a house in a residential street, but other items were also found nearby that could have been used by the killer.
A 35-year-old man who also has injuries is in custody, CTV reported. Neighbour Jerome Cruz told the channel he had heard screams and “banging” during the incident, which he said was “very shocking”. The neighbourhood, he added, was normally “very quiet”.
