Cropwell Bishop residents excited as GP surgery set to resume services next month

Residents in Cropwell Bishop have welcomed the news that GP services will be reintroduced in the village for the first time in over a year.

Belvoir Health Group, which operates the surgery, has announced GP services will be reintroduced from June 7.

Belvoir runs services in nearby Bingham and Cotgrave which will continue to operate under "pandemic conditions" until further notice.

There will be a number of changes for people who visit the centre on Fern Road, to help protect staff and visitors from Covid-19.

The group said in a statement: "We are pleased to say that will be reintroducing GP services at Cropwell Bishop from Monday June 7.

"There will be some changes in terms of how we use the building - for example, where patients attending for face to face appointments are asked to wait.

"Please pay attention to any signage or requests for our team as things may look a little different."

Cropwell Bishop residents say they are delighted with the news that in person GP visits will be available from next month.

Councillor Gordon Moore, who represents the area for Rushcliffe Borough Council, said: "They have been operating not face-to-face but through other measures and I must say it has been first class, it really has.

"I have heard no complaints whatsoever about the surgery or its services - it's been fantastic. It's worked quite smoothly.

"Having said that, it's absolutely brilliant the GP will be open again for face-to-face appointments. From what I've heard, there will be a number of ways it will be different, in terms of where you wait and what have you, but it's great it will be back up and running again."

Harold Sweeter, 63, told Nottinghamshire Live: "I think it's important that a village like this has its GP open.

"Not everyone is very good online and its easier and more reassuring when you can see someone in the flesh and ask them questions.

"So yes, I'm happy it's going to reopen."

"It's obviously good news," said another resident, who wished to remain anonymous.

"We have other surgeries nearby but I very much like the one we have here. The sooner it's open the better."
