Crocodile terrorises Indian villagers with casual stroll through main road

Terrifying footage captured the moment a crocodile spooked Indian villagers.

The 14-foot reptile stunned the onlookers as the creature took a casual stroll around their houses

Villagers walked nervously in a line behind the beast and local dogs were going haywire in Kogilabana village in Karnataka, Southern India.

The croc was reported to have been wandering through the town for 30 minutes.

According to a Forest Department official, the animal was later captured and released back into the river it emerged from.

They said: “The incident took place in Kogilabana village in Dandeli. We have captured the animal after which it was released to the Kali River which flows nearby.”

The jaw-dropping footage sent Twitter wild when it was shared on social media on Thursday.

It came after a British backpacker who was attacked by a crocodile while swimming in Mexico tot she thought she was going to die.

Twins Melissa and Georgia Laurie, 28, were swimming in a lagoon near Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca state with a tour group when Melissa was dragged underwater and the reptile attacked.

She told The Sun: “I screamed: ‘S***! It’s a crocodile, we need to turn back immediately.’

“I saw its eyes and the shape of its head just above the water and in that moment, I thought, we are in trouble.”
