Croatia sets out travel rules for UK visitors ahead of summer holidays resuming

Croatia has become the latest nation to indicate it will welcome UK visitors if they have proof of vaccination, a negative Covid-19 test or they have recovered from the virus.

Tourists will also need to produce proof any accommodation is reserved and paid for ahead of entering the country. Tests - either PCR or rapid flow - must be taken within 48 hours of arrival in Croatia.

Any visitor that can prove they have received a vaccine must have been given their second dose at least 14 days before arrival, while confirmation of recovery must be dated within than 180 days.

However, under UK Government guidelines, all non-essential foreign travel is currently outlawed until May 17 at the earliest.

The UK Global Travel Taskforce is also expected to report the results of its review on overseas travel within days. Many tour operators are not scheduled to resume flights and operations until later in the summer.

But tourism minister Nikolina Brnjac said: “EU citizens, as well as non-EU citizens, who have either recovered or been vaccinated or have a negative PCR or EU-approved antigen test, will be able to enter Croatia for tourist reasons.

“We have intensified preparations for the upcoming tourist year; we are arranging additional points for testing in tourist places in order to make our tourists’ stay in the Republic of Croatia as pleasant and safe as possible.”

Children under the age of seven travelling with a parent or guardian are exempt if the parents or guardians have a negative PCR or rapid antigen test, or confirmation of vaccination or recovery from Covid-19.

Travellers are encouraged to enter their details on the Enter Croatia website before travelling.
