Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro made history once again after being behind one of the two films with the most wins at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. Frankenstein closed the night with four trophies, including Best Supporting Actor for Jacob Elordi, while One Battle After Another was named Best Picture and its director, Paul Thomas Anderson, took home the award in his category.
Sinners also ended the night with four awards.
In the television categories, the honors were more evenly distributed, with The Pitt, The Studio and Adolescence among the most recognized.
The Brazilian film El Agente Secreto won the award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The Critics Choice Awards, held in Los Angeles, are seen as an early signal of what is likely to dominate the film and television awards season. Voted on by professional critics from the United States and Canada, the Critics Choice Awards have become a key barometer ahead of the Oscars, the Emmys, the BAFTAs and other major honors.
