Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent has dismissed speculation the forward might leave Real Madrid, insisting he is likely to see out his career at the club.
Ronaldo himself had suggested he could move elsewhere, saying: “Why not? I’m a Real Madrid player at the moment but you can never know. You’ve got to do what makes you happy. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. All I can say is that I will always give my best for my club and for Portugal.”
He then prompted speculation he might be interested in a spell in France after being spotted whispering in the ear of the Paris Saint-Germain coach, Laurent Blanc, after Real’s victory in the Champions League on Tuesday.
But Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, who negotiated the player’s £80m transfer to Madrid in 2009, poured cold water on that idea, saying his client, whose contract expires in 2018, was “happy” at Real.
“There is lots of speculation and a new story every day,” Skysports.com quoted him as saying. “But if you ask me, I would say Cristiano will finish his career with Real Madrid and be there for many, many years.”
Ronaldo has been rested by Portugal who have announced their squad to play friendlies against Russia and Luxembourg.
