Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo when deciding who is the club's best signing this century.
After 450 goals in 411 games, you would think Ronaldo was a shoo-in for the mantle.
Perez bought Ronaldo from Manchester United in 2009 for a then world-record fee of £80million and oversaw the Portugal great becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer, win La Liga twice and the Champions League a remarkable four times, including three on the bounce.
The pair parted ways in 2018, with Ronaldo claiming a shift in the pair's relationship instigated his desire to leave Santiago Bernabeu. He would join Juventus for around £90m after scoring 44 goals and 44 games in his final season for Real.
Volker Struth, the agent of Ronaldo's former team-mate at Real Madrid, Toni Kroos, has detailed a conversation he had with Perez two years ago.
"Shortly before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Florentino invited me to lunch," Struth said on the OMR podcast, Marca reports.
"He is an incredibly nice person, with a great life story. He seems entrepreneurial, but he is still human.
"He explained to me why Toni is Real Madrid's signing of the century for him. Kroos is unbeatable in terms of value for money."
Kroos arrived from Bayern Munich in 2014 for around £25m and also boasts two Liga titles and was key to Madrid's back-to-back Champions League triumphs between 2015 and 2018.
