Cristiano Ronaldo proved his class once again by embracing a young pitch invader after Portugal's goalless draw with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Thursday night.
Manchester United forward Ronaldo was unable to help his side past Stephen Kenny's resilient Ireland but it won't do much to harm Portugal's chances of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Portugal are already in the hat for next year's tournament and are battling it out with Serbia to finish top of Group A, which also contains Luxembourg and Azerbaijan as well as Ireland.
A video clip that went viral after the game showed a pitch invader make a bee-line for Ronaldo who gave the little girl a hug and his shirt from the match.
According to the Irish Mirror, Cristiano was greeted by a separate pitch invader during the game.
The incident was not broadcast on RTE, the Irish broadcaster showing the game, but pictures emerged of the incident afterwards.
The invader got close to Ronaldo before stewards could intervene and they escorted the fan, who managed to shake the superstar's hand, off the pitch.
Ronaldo and Portugal had to play the last ten minutes of the World Cup qualifier with ten men because Pepe was sent off for fouling Callum Robinson, earning himself a second yellow card.
Ronaldo almost snatched a late winner when, six minutes into injury time, he saw an effort from young Ireland goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu blocked.
Bazunu, on loan at Portsmouth from Manchester City, wanted Ronaldo's shirt after the game but was forced to watch him lose out to the young pitch invader.

Ronaldo and Portugal play Serbia on Sunday in Lisbon (7.45pm) in their final international match until next year's March break.
