Cristiano Ronaldo is officially going back to Manchester United. The club announced the transfer on social media Friday to make things official. The football world went into an absolute frenzy.
This was maybe the greatest player in the world returning to his old stomping grounds where he initially made his name. This was the club that he carried to league titles and Champions League wins more than a decade ago. He was back, ready to try it again.
And though he’s looking forward to what’s coming with Manchester United, he still took a moment to appreciate the fans he was leaving behind in Juventus.
Ronaldo released a statement expressing gratitude for his time there in an Instagram post.
“I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days…In the end, we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful storty together.”
Ronaldo’s tenure with Juventus didn’t quite end the way anyone wanted after a tumultuous final season, but it’s nice to see him leaving fans with this.
