Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Manchester United team-mates ahead of Watford fixture

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a rallying cry to his team-mates ahead of Saturday's trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford, insisting it is time to "roll up the sleeves."

United, who have won seven of their last eight tussles with the Hornets in all competitions, will make the trip to Hertfordshire looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to local rivals Manchester City prior to the international break.

The defeat to City marked a fourth defeat for United in their last six Premier League outings. They have also won just three of their last ten matches in all competitions.

With the pressure continuing to mount on both manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the United squad as a whole, Ronaldo, who has scored nine times in 12 appearances since returning to the club from Juventus at the end of the summer transfer window, issued a passionate message on his Instagram page on the eve of the of the trip to Watford.

The United ace, who experienced a disappointing international break with Portugal, said: "Time to role up the sleeves once again and just get the job done! Let’s chase what we are trying to achieve this season!"

Whilst Ronaldo's overall form since returning to Old Trafford has been positive, with the numbers backing that up, the Portuguese ace, probably more than most, will be hurting from the Reds' recent struggles.

Ronaldo is a born winner, he is not used to experiencing these current struggles, meaning his message will have a sense of meaning and substance to it.

A trip to Watford, who have won just one of their first four matches under new manager Claudio Ranieri, offers United a promising opportunity to kick-off what looks like being a gruelling looking week with a spring in their step.

After facing the Hornets, who earned promotion back to the Premier League from the Championship last season, United travel to Spain to face Villarreal in their penultimate UEFA Champions League Group F match, before returning to England to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Sunday afternoon.

Considering the tussles with Villarreal and Chelsea, with respect, are likely to pose greater challenges than the one Watford will present, Solskjaer's side will be determined to record a positive result and take the first step along the road to redemption after the defeat to City a fortnight ago.
