Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Manchester United fans after being named Player of the Month

Cristiano Ronaldo swept up the personal accolades in September as he was named Manchester United's and the Premier League's Player of the Month.

It's been a fruitful return to England so far for Ronaldo, as he scored five goals in just five games last month since making his United comeback after signing from Juventus.

In the Premier League, he bagged three goals in three matches, including a double on his second debut for the club in the 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford. He then scored again in the next league match to help United come from behind to beat West Ham.

The Portuguese's displays in the league were enough to convince voting fans and a panel of experts to crown him the Premier League's Player of the Month, beating competition from Joao Cancelo, Antonio Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin, Mohamed Salah and Ismaila Sarr.

Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo also took the gong for United's own Player of the Month, with his two further goals in the Champions League against Young Boys and Villarreal helping him claim the trophy.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner collected his rewards after returning to Carrington following his exploits on international duty, in which he scored four times in two games, and recorded a message for supporters, in which he said: "Thank you to all the fans for voting me for Player of the Month, thank you guys!"
