Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Manchester United fans after re-signing for the club this summer.
United completed a deal worth an initial €15m to bring the legendary forward back to Old Trafford from Juventus on a two-year contract with the option of a third season.
Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United during his first spell with the club and returns 12 years later after winning four Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles, two Serie A titles and four extra Ballon d'Or's to add to the three Premier League titles, Champions League trophy and Ballon d'Or he won in England.
After returning to the club he calls 'home', Ronaldo sat down for an interview with the in-house media team and sent a message to the fans that have continued to sing his name since the day he left the club back in 2009.
“Well, the fans is the key of football," he said.
"Now, with all the stadiums full of supporters, it’s not the same that we had one year ago, those empty stadiums. The fans, they are the key, and I’m so glad.
"The Manchester United fans, they are special.
"I know, I remember very well. I know they still sing my music, which has made me feel even more happy and my commitment is to give everything on the pitch, like I did before, like I do it all the time, and try to do my best, help the team score goals, make assists, win games, and I hope to see them very, very soon.”
Ronaldo is expected to make his (second) debut for the club against Newcastle at Old Trafford on September 11th, after representing Portugal during the international break.
