Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Man United squad and reacts to Premier League award

Cristiano Ronaldo has asked his Manchester United teammates to 'keep working hard' to deliver results this season.

Ronaldo, 36, made a sensational return to United on deadline day and he wasted no time in stylishly announcing his arrival on the pitch when scoring a brace on his debut against Newcastle — goals against Young Boys, West Ham and Villarreal followed.

That meant Ronaldo scored five goals across his six appearances across all competitions in September, with three of his tally scored in the Premier League, which was enough to ensure he was named as the top flight's Player of the Month.

Ronaldo was now won Player of the Month five times — having won the honour four times during his previous stint at the club. That's the joint most monthly awards by a United player, level with Wayne Rooney.

The Portuguese star took to social media to react to the news, issuing a rallying cry to his teammates for the weeks ahead.

"Proud to be elected Player Of The Month among so many great players in the Premier League," Ronaldo wrote.

"Thanks to all my teammates at Man. United, couldn’t have done it without them.

"Let’s keep working hard and the results will come."

United return to action after the international break with a visit to Leicester in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium.
