Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer 'priority' revealed as Max Allegri makes Juventus decision

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly prioritising a shock return to Manchester United amid growing doubts over his future at Juventus.

Ronaldo has overseen another managerial change in Turin after a tumultuous domestic campaign ended in Juventus scraping Champions League qualification on the final day.

Despite Ronaldo finishing the Serie A season as top goalscorer, Juve failed to win Italy's top flight title for the first time in a decade and Andrea Pirlo was subsequently sacked.

Massimiliano Allegri was re-appointed to change the club's fortunes, two years after leaving following a successful spell in charge.

But the 53-year-old boss appears to have already made a decision over Ronaldo, with the Portuguese icon not in his future plans.

According to Spanish publication Cadena Ser, Allegri does not want to keep the five-time Ballon d'Or winner at the Allianz Stadium next season.

The report claims that Ronaldo would have left the Italian giants had they not secured Champions League football, but he is now considering his next move regardless of the qualification for Europe's elite competition.

Ronaldo is said to be in a period of 'reflection' and a return to Old Trafford is attracting the 36-year-old to the point where it has now become his priority.

The forward has one-year left on his current deal and has never ruled out a return to United, where he transformed into an elite star.

Ronaldo scored 118 times in 292 appearances for the Red Devils before making an £80m move to Real Madrid in 2009.

Meanwhile, Allegri's return to the Old Lady is the latest move in the managerial merry-go-round across Europe this summer.

Antonio Conte's shock exit at champions Inter is a boost for Juve, who are searching for answers after an underwhelming campaign.

And the club are thrilled to welcome back old boss Allegri, who guided them to two Champions League finals and five Serie A crowns during his trophy-laden first five-year stint.

"Allegri finds a bench that he knows very well, a club that he loves and that loves him back, as today a new journey begins together, towards new goals," an emotional club statement read after his announcement on Friday.

"What he achieved in his first adventure at Juventus are engraved in the club’s history: five Scudetti, to the four-consecutive doubles, coupled with the Coppa Italia and to the two Super Cups, reaching two Champions League finals in just three seasons, in what were epic feats both in Italy and in Europe.

"We said goodbye two years ago with the message, “History Alone”, the message on the back of the shirt given to Massimiliano Allegri by President Andrea Agnelli with an embrace and a shirt, on which in just two words encapsulated Allegri's experience at Juve.

"And now we are ready to begin again with Allegri, to build our future together; with his enormous professionalism, his moral strength, with the brilliant ideas of a coach capable of shuffling the cards, both on and off the pitch.

"With his smile, a sort of "signature". With his way of understanding football and life with simplicity, with his desire to play things down and with the commitment to enjoy every beautiful moment that being at Juventus can give and will give."
