Cristiano Ronaldo's sister makes feelings clear on Lionel Messi's stunning overhead kick

Cristiano Ronaldo's sister has supported an Instagram post comparing Lionel Messi's brilliant overhead attempt on Saturday night to her brother's famous bicycle kick for Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Messi, who struggled for goals in Ligue 1 last season, managing just six, wasted no time getting started this term by bagging two against Clermont in PSG's season opener. One of the 35 year-old's goals was a brilliant overhead attempt, controlling Leandro Paredes' lofty through ball on his chest before cleverly sweeping the ball home.

The Argentine's role in his side's win was so good his name was sung by opposition fans. Naturally, Messi's sumptuous finish drew comparisons with Ronaldo's bicycle kick for Real Madrid which received a standing ovation from a Juventus home crowd.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner showed incredible acrobatics in the Champions League quarter-final in 2018 and his strike is widely recognised as one of the greatest goals in the competition's history. And it appears one fan account has taken it upon itself to offer a scathing comparison of Messi and Ronaldo's individual efforts.

With a picture of both goals in action side-by-side, a caption reads: "One is a pull and the other is a bicycle. One is in the French Championship against Clermont and the other is in the knockout stage of the Champions League against Juventus. In one, the player puts his hands on the lawn, the other foot also and it would barely be possible to put a mattress between his body and the field, while the other has his body completely outside the lawn and the space between his body and the field. it's so much that the player in the top image would fit and if he hesitated, there would still be a little left hahaha. Never compare..."

The post was not only liked by Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, but responded to with five clapping hand emojis, making her feelings perfectly clear on the two goals. It is not the first time Ronaldo's sister has reacted to something on Instagram involving her brother, liking a post calling for United's No.7 to be let go.

The 37-year-old remains keen to leave the club he made his name at and continue playing competitive Champions League football. However, a lack of suitors partnered with United's reluctance to sell could see him forced to stay. Discussing Ronaldo's future in pre-season, Erik ten Hag said: "I think Cristiano is capable of doing that [playing in his system]. In his career, he has shown everything.

"I have set my demand. We want to play in a certain way. A top player can contribute and Ronaldo is an absolute top player in our squad. The players dictate the way you play. Especially players who score goals because they are extremely important for a team. You construct your team around them."
