Cristiano Ronaldo's rude reaction to Lionel Messi taunts after Super Cup defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo is used to being compared to Lionel Messi - but taunts over his Argentinian rival finally drew a reaction last weekend.

Ronaldo was left frustrated as Juventus lost 3-1 to Napoli in the Italian Super Cup on Sunday, immediately removing his runners-up medal after a disappointing night in Saudi Arabia.

Footage has now emerged of him twice reacting to chants of "Messi, Messi, Messi" from fans as he waited to leave the pitch after the game.

The first time around, he offered a sarcastic thumbs up and a smile, winking at the fans as he seemed to laugh off their goading.

But moments later, he performed an obscene crotch-grabbing gesture at the same set of fans who were taunting him over his rival.

Ronaldo has generally refrained himself from reacting to taunts over Messi, who overtook him by winning a sixth Ballon d'Or crown last month.

He appeared frustrated after finally losing a final, however, ending a run of 14 straight finals without defeat for Real Madrid , Portugal and Juventus in various competitions.

Paulo Dybala's strike proved in vain as goals from Luis Alberto, Senad Lulic and Danilo Cataldi earned the Rome-based outfit a second victory over their rivals in three weeks.

Manager Maurizio Sarri said: "We arrived at this game short of energy, physically and mentally. This happens. Meanwhile, Lazio are experiencing a moment of incredible form.

"We are sorry we lost a title, but we still have many competitions to play for in the next five months

He then grabbed his crotch at the same group of fans (Twitter)

"There is anger, but crying over it does not solve the problems.

"We did not lose because of the front three, since we conceded the [second and third] goals after I added a midfielder.

"I have a positive record against Lazio, and I don't think that the players will be influenced by these two games.

"As I said before the game, I don't think this final can affect the next five months of the league championship."

Ronaldo has previously talked up his rivalry with Messi, claiming it makes both of them better players.

"A lot of people said that we fed each other, that being together in Spain made us better," Ronaldo told  France Football  .

"That's certainly true, I felt his presence more in Madrid than in Manchester.

"It was a healthy rivalry. We were the symbols of our clubs.

"I think he said recently that he missed me on a competitive level."
