Cristiano Ronaldo's private opinion of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid 'embarrassed' claims

Cristiano Ronaldo is continuing to throw his weight behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite the fact he is embarrassed by Manchester United's dire form, according to reports.

Solskjaer is under intense pressure following his side's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool, which marked United's third defeat in four Premier League games.

The Norwegian is believed to have three games to save his job as manager, starting with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

While Solskjaer has failed to deliver the results expected of him, few can fault Ronaldo as he continues to find the back of the net at an impressive rate.

The Portuguese superstar has six goals in nine games since returning to Old Trafford this summer, making him the club's top scorer.

But the Daily Mail claims Ronaldo is deeply concerned by the Red Devils' recent results, with heavy defeats by Leicester City and Liverpool leaving him embarrassed.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's disgruntlement could lead to speculation Solskjaer no longer has his full backing.

This is not the case, however, as the Manchester Evening News reports Ronaldo is continuing to vocally support his manager in the dressing room.

The striker is described as the key figure holding the dressing room together and he has urged his teammates not to give up in the face of a poor run.

Ronaldo's defence of Solskjaer comes at a time when a number of United players are said to have lost faith in the 48-year-old.

The former Molde boss has left members of the squad confused with his selection decisions since choosing to start Daniel James against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 29 August, two days before he was sold to Leeds United for £25million.

The absence of Jesse Lingard from the XI has also raised eyebrows, with the 28-year-old limited to one start in all competitions this season.

Elsewhere, Donny van de Beek has impressed his teammates on the training ground yet the £40million playmaker remains far down Solskjaer's pecking order.

The Dutchman has played just six minutes of Premier League football this season and he was hauled off at half-time against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Further, unspecified players were also left aghast by Solskjaer's decision to name an unchanged team against Liverpool from the side which faced Atalanta the previous midweek.

United were shaky against the Italian club and many predicted they would be convincingly beaten by the Reds if changes were not made.
