Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez sparks speculation pair have married

Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez has sparked speculation the pair may have secretly wed as she referred to the former Manchester United star as her 'husband'.

Juventus ace Ronaldo denied he had married Rodriguez in a secret ceremony in North Africa when asked about the rumours back in November.

But the 34-year-old forward, who also played for Real Madrid and Sporting Lisbon, was at the centre of speculation again this week when his partner called him her 'husband' in a social media post on her 26th birthday.

Taking to Instagram to share a picture of herself, Ronaldo and his children, Rodriguez said: "Happy 2️6 for me, very happy. I can't ask life more. Just a lot of health for my family and me and to always enjoy them.

"Thank you all for your congratulations, flowers and therefore love. And Thank you to my husband for giving me the best of life, our children. I love you."

The word the 26-year-old used to describe Ronaldo was 'Marido', which in Spanish is often used to denote a common law husband.

'Esposo' is the word used more commonly for a man who is married via a legal ceremony.

So while Rodriguez called the Portugal international as her husband, she may not mean in the legal sense.

She also shared a video of the family singing 'Happy Birthday' to her.

Ronaldo's beau shared a selection of pictures of her special day with Cristiano Jr, nine, two-year-old twins Eva and Mateo, and Alana, the footballer's two-year-old daughter with Georgina.

Ronaldo also posted his own message marking his partner's birthday on Instagram, saying: "Congratulations my love! I wish you a very nice day! You are a great woman and an excellent mother for our children. I love you so much honey!"

Ronaldo's representatives declined to comment on whether or not the player had married when contacted by the Daily Mail.
