Cristiano Ronaldo's mum to convince former Manchester United star of next transfer move

Cristiano Ronaldo's mother will attempt to convince her son to return to his first club Sporting.

Despite his position at the top of the goal-scoring charts, Ronaldo has endured a difficult season at Juventus with the Old Lady surrendering their Serie A title to Inter and looking increasingly likely to miss out on Champions League qualification.

Sporting - where Ronaldo started his professional career and the club Manchester United signed him from - in stark contrast, have put an end to 19 years of hurt by beating rivals Porto and Benfica to the Portuguese championship.

A victory over Boavista on Tuesday saw Sporting crowned champions for the first time since 2002 and sparked wild celebrations in Lisbon.

Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, supports the club and during the party told fans she would attempt to bring her son back to the city.

“I’ll talk to him [Ronaldo] to bring him back,” she said, according to Reuters.

“Next year he will play in Alvalade [Sporting’s stadium].”

Ronaldo, who enjoyed a glittering six years at Old Trafford between 2003-2009, still has a year remaining on his contract in Turin.

However, with Juve's struggles this season and his massive wage packet, there has been speculation that the 36-year-old could depart the club. Sporting, as well as United, have been touted as possible destinations.
