Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram earnings make history as new follower mark passed

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken many footballing records over his long and industrious career, but he is also a major influence away from the field and he is leading the way on Instagram too.

The 37-year-old is now the most followed person on the whole of the platform, as he has now surpassed 400 million followers after a rapid rise since his return to Manchester United.

Ronaldo has gathered a mass fan base over the course of his career, but since he returned to United this summer his follower count has shot up by 163 million, outgrowing Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kylie Jenner.

With that amount of exposure, money follows as it's naturally one of the best avenues of advertisement, and Ronaldo is making a killing from Instagram alone before any of his other income streams are even considered.

When Ronaldo arrived back at United in September 2021, he had a follower count of 237 million which has almost now doubled in just the space of five months.

Back then, it was estimated that the five-time Ballon d'Or was raking in an average of £1,019,100 per Instagram post, but with the growth of his account, betting experts OLBG have revealed how much Ronaldo could be earning from one upload.

Due to Ronaldo's new influx of followers, the value of each individual post rises to £1,720,000, with his uploads averaging 10 million likes every time his profile gets a new piece of content.

That incredible sum is almost a month's salary at United, with the Portuguese star earning £480,000-a-week at Old Trafford, and as his follower count continues to rise it's likely that the revenue will increase further.

It seems as though Ronaldo is more popular than any other football club in England, as his follower count is higher than all 92 professional clubs across the top four leagues combined.

Ronaldo is the first celebrity to have amassed 400 million followers, and it could see him move even higher up Forbes' rich list as a result after finishing third on the athlete's tally last year.

Currently, Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi is the only football player to sit ahead of Ronaldo in yearly earnings, and his stock has risen further following his move to Paris Saint Germain.

However, the margin is slim, and Ronaldo could move up to second or even top the list entirely this year, as the previous front-runner was Conor McGregor, who has been away from the Octagon.

It's fair to say that Ronaldo would love to hold that top spot, and there's a very serious possibility that he could do so this year with his revenue streams increasing by the day.

Ronaldo is set up for further success away from football whenever he does hang up his boots, but he will be looking to give all he can before that time comes, and United and in desperate need of something special this season.
