Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Man Utd on Monday after he gets transfer wish on holiday

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United to report for pre-season training on July 4 after enjoying a summer getaway with partner Georgina Rodriguez and his children.

The family had jetted off to Spain to enjoy some downtime before a gruelling Premier League season gets set to resume in just over a month's time. Ronaldo and his family flew into Majorca via his £20million G200 private jet before residing in a villa situated at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains.

He was also snapped on a private yacht in Ibiza on the same day many of his United colleagues were enduring some brutal double sessions as non-international players have returned to Carrington a week early. Ronaldo's late holiday is down to the fact he represented Portugal during UEFA Nations League fixtures almost immediately after the club season had finished.

However, the time for rest will shortly be over as he gears up to be put through his paces by new United boss Erik ten Hag for the first time. United's first pre-season trip to Bangkok is rapidly approaching and Ronaldo will be keen to see some new additions made before then.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong ever since the window opened and Ronaldo will be hearted by the reports that an agreement between the two clubs has finally been reached for a transfer fee of £67million.

It may go some way to quelling speculation around Ronaldo's own potential exit after rumours began to circulate that the 37-year-old was growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity. Plenty of United's 'big-six' rivals, including Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and local rivals Manchester City have all made at least two additions to their squad.

As things stand, United are still yet to announce any kind of arrival but are significantly closer to a number of their targets than they were before Ronaldo went on his holiday. Dutch-fall back Tyrell Malacia is edging ever closer to becoming the first United signing of the Ten Hag-era after the Premier League giants gazumped Lyon's third bid for the player.

Some complications over the Feyenoord defender's representatives slightly delayed the switch, but it is now back on track and expected to be announced in the coming days. Ronaldo could be playing in front of creative outlet Christian Eriksen next term if the United hierarchy can convince the Danish international Old Trafford is the place to be rather than the Brentford Community Stadium.

That United are trying to sign as many of their targets as possible will be music to Ronaldo's ears, but the fact that last month marked the first time the club have failed to sign a single player in June since 2010 will not have gone unnoticed to the player and his team of agents.
