Cristiano Ronaldo offers hint on whether he will start for Manchester United vs Newcastle

Cristiano Ronaldo has informed Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he is "ready" to start Saturday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international, who sealed a fairy tale return to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, is poised to make his second debut for the club when they lock horns with Steve Bruce's Magpies.

Ronaldo has been training with his new United team-mates at their Carrington training base since Tuesday and has been putting the hard yards in, in the hope that he can earn his second Reds debut from the off against the St James' Park club.

Now settling back into life in the Premier League, Ronaldo has admitted that he is chomping at the bit to be thrown straight into the thick of the action on Saturday afternoon.

"Of course I will be nervous on Saturday, but I am more mature, I am more experienced," Ronaldo told United's club website during an interview with former team-mate Wes Brown.

"I will be prepared and I am going to make pressure to Ole now to start in the XI [laughs]. I am ready to go!"

Whilst Ronaldo will immediately be installed as United's go-to man and be considered as their star player, the Portuguese ace, who recently became the highest goalscorer in men's international football, has hailed the talent that he will be playing alongside.

"The new players, the new lads, the young lads... I think they have huge potential," Ronaldo continued. "I'm here again to win, to make history."

Ronaldo, of course, knows what it feels like to win silverware at Old Trafford, but has hinted that his previous success counts for nothing this time around.

He added: "We have good memories but this is [a] new time, new generation and I'm here to win again."
