  • Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by becoming the first player to score in six different editions of the World Cup.
  • The 41-year-old Portugal captain netted his record-breaking goal less than six minutes into their Group K match against Uzbekistan at Houston Stadium on Tuesday, and then added a second shortly before half time.
  • Ronaldo's World Cup scoring tally now stands at 10 goals, with one goal each in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2022 and two in 2026, alongside four goals in the 2018 tournament.
  • His rival Lionel Messi recently became the first player to appear in six World Cups and currently holds the record for most World Cup goals (18) and appearances (28).
