Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Manchester United training session in good spirits

Cristiano Ronaldo was all smiles as he departed the Manchester United training ground on Thursday afternoon after a session with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.

Ronaldo was snapped by MEN photographers driving away from the Carrington training base in his Bentley car, as United's squad convened ahead of this weekend's Watford clash.

United travel to Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon looking to arrest their alarming Premier League form. Solskjaer has seen his side win just three of their past 10 matches in all competitions, with only one victory in their previous six in the league.

Ronaldo, who suffered heartache on the international stage with Portugal in the past week — as they were denied automatic World Cup qualification by Serbia — will be looking to spearhead a United turnaround in the coming months.

The 36-year-old has netted nine goals since returning to Old Trafford in the summer, including dramatic late goals in the Champions League games against Villarreal and Atalanta (twice) to secure valuable points. He also scored in United's most recent win, the 3-0 triumph at Tottenham Hotspur on October 30th.

Solskjaer's job has come into question following defeats to Leicester, Liverpool and Man City in the league, with the MEN understanding that United have interest in Brendan Rodgers as a possible successor.

The MEN reported on October 27th that Ronaldo implored his United teammates to show faith in Solskjaer despite the widespread criticism of the Norwegian, amid the sense United's star-studded squad is underperforming.

Solskjaer could yet turn things around in the short-term, though a change of management at some stage in the foreseeable future now looks inevitable. Spain boss Luis Enrique and Ajax's Erik Ten Hag are among the other managers linked with the job.

United versus Watford kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (November 20th).
