Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus superstar 'thought he'd be a fisherman at 35'

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he thought he would be a fisherman by 35 after celebrating his birthday.

The Portuguese remains at the top of the game, having hit the 50-goal milestone in just his second season with the Italians since leaving Real Madrid.

And Ronaldo concedes his career has gone beyond his wildest dreams.

“At 35? I thought I was going to be a fisherman in Madeira,” he said to Canal 11.

“This never came into my mind. I wanted to be a professional footballer, but I didn’t think I was going to win everything I’ve won.”

Juve face Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League.

And Ronaldo is grateful to have another chance to add to his five Champions League titles, with the first leg on 26 February.

“To play at Juventus gives me the chance to win it again,” he added.

“We know it’s difficult, it depends on many factors, but it’s possible because we have a good team.

“We must take one step at a time going forward.”
