Cristiano Ronaldo admits he could retire next year despite three more years left on his Juventus contract.
At 34 years old, Ronaldo admits the end is coming as he bids to add an extra layer to his legacy in Turin.
The ultimate goal with Juventus remains the Champions League, with a quarter-final exit at the hands of Ajax last year, and Ronaldo concedes this could be his final chance to win it.
“I don’t think about that,” Ronaldo told TVI.
“Maybe I can finish my career next year... but I can also play up to 40 or 41.
“I don’t know. What I always say is to enjoy the moment. The gift is excellent and I have to continue to enjoy it.”
Juventus teammate Sami Khedira has described Ronaldo as the LeBron James or Tom Brady of football.
And Ronaldo believes his records speak for themselves, with his legacy almost complete.
“Are there any football players who have more records than me?” he asked.
“I don’t think there are any footballers who have more records than me.”
With Maurizio Sarri replacing Massimiliano Allegri in charge, Ronaldo and co. start their pursuit of a ninth successive scudetto against Parma on August 24.
