Cristiano Ronaldo issues own end-of-season message after Virgil van Dijk post

Cristiano Ronaldo has followed Virgil van Dijk with an end-of-season message to his fans - and outshone the Liverpool defender.

Van Dijk reflected on a successful campaign for club and country by sending a message to Liverpool supporters on social media.

"We achieved great things this season at Liverpool as a team and I feel proud to be part of such an incredible club with this group of players," he wrote.

"To be European champions is a dream come true! We are all now hungry for more success and will continue to give all we can to achieve that."

Van Dijk also reflected on his success with Holland as they made the Nations League final - only to be beaten by Ronaldo's Portugal.
